Mysterious marbling material is basically a paper marbling art (Ebru) maker without messing up the whole house. For me, it is the mixture of my two passion: the fluid dynamics and art. So I have to try to combine these two in a material with Substance Designer. Mainly I used the vector morph nodes and created a few simple pixel processor nodes for simulating flow and push forces. 🤓
Mysterious Marbling material has tons of parameters. You can change the color palette, droplet scale, and count, the amount of push force between droplets, zebra or pointy base types, droplet textures, and gradients, post splashes, paper types, and artifacts. Also, you can experience classical techniques like comb, fantasy, fountain, french curl etc.
Finally, I added two extra nontraditional techniques to the material, height control & surface metalness. And now, we can push the boundaries of the traditional marbling art bit 😉
